SD DSS Conducting a Statewide Child Care Workforce Study

The South Dakota Department of Social Services (DSS) is conducting a statewide Child Care Workforce study to better understand the current landscape of the state’s child care workforce. As part of that study, DSS has contracted with ICF to administer the Child Care Workforce Survey to all center-based program directors, center-based program staff, and family day care providers throughout South Dakota.

You hold a unique perspective as a child care provider. Your input can help us better understand the complexities of your daily work as well as the challenges that you and other child care providers are experiencing in recruiting and retaining staff. DSS will also use the information to help inform and direct child care policies.

You should have either seen a flyer with survey information or received an e-mail with a survey link. We encourage you to complete it as soon as possible! The survey is available until Wednesday, May 15, 2024 and those who complete the survey will receive a $5 Amazon gift card.

If you are an unregistered provider and would like to participate, you can contact the survey team to provide your email address and contract information. Additionally if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
