Hot Springs is “The Veteran’s Town.” A VA hospital and health care facility is located in the city, as well as the South Dakota State Veterans Home. These facilities have been here since 1907, and 1889, respectively. Hot Springs is also a tourism and retirement city. With The Mammoth Site, Evans Plunge, and our Fall River Museum in the city, and our proximity to Wind Cave National Park, Custer State Park, The Wild Horse Sanctuary, Angostura Reservoir, and many other attractions, it makes Hot Springs a destination place for many tourists.

We have an award winning 18 hole golf course, with two new housing subdivisions next to the recently constructed back nine. We also have seven parks in the city, with three of them located right on Fall River, which begins in Hot Springs, and runs through the city. The smallest Union Pacific Railroad depot in the world is located in Hot Springs, and is used for our visitor information center. I welcome everyone to enjoy some time in Hot Springs. Come see our sandstone buildings most of which were constructed between 1888 and 1915. We are truly a city of warm water, and warm people.
